A heartbroken CNN reporter, whose nine-month-old daughter died on Christmas Eve after a three-month battle with cancer, has pledged to spend her life helping to find a cure for the brutal disease.
Andrew Kaczynski, married to Wall Street Journal reporter Rachel Louise Ensign, sent a message of thanks Saturday night to those who expressed support after the death of his daughter, Francesca, whom they called “Bean.”
“Thank you all, your messages have touched our hearts,” he tweeted.
The stimulating father also shared a video of the girl kicking and radiating from before the cancer destroyed her.
“I know many of you didn’t know Beans before he was diagnosed with cancer in September. He had such a great taste in his step before starting treatment. And we’re lucky to have six normal months of life. It was the end of July, “he wrote as he tweeted a short clip of Bean, rubbing and laughing in the crib.
The couple had requested donations in honor of Bean and Kaczynski included a link to a bike event that raised money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, where Bean was treated.
“We are very grateful for the amount of money that has been raised in Francesca’s honor to Dana Farber to fight this terrible disease and we will spend the rest of our lives involved finding a cure,” she wrote.
More than $ 338,000 has been raised.
