Another BLA MLA member leaves the party in Calcutta and joins TMC | News from India

NEW DELHI: Kaliaganj BJP MP and Soumen Roy joined the Trinamool Congress in the presence of party leader Partha Chatterjee in Calcutta.
“I had to contest Kaliaganj for the BJP ticket due to some circumstances. But my soul and my heart belong to TMC. I rejoined the party to support the efforts of CM Mamata Banerjee,” he said. Roy after joining TMC.
“I apologize at the party for the time I wasn’t here,” he added.
Soumen Roy is the fourth BJP MP to return to TMC after the election.
Earlier this week, BJP MP Biswajit Das and BJP councilor Manotosh Nath left the party in Calcutta to join the Trinamool Congress.
Biswajit, who had left TMC to join BJP in 2019, said: “Due to some misunderstandings, some changes were made that should not have been made. I have now returned home and will continue to work. for the people of my state and the constituency. ” “I never felt very comfortable in the BJP. I have long wanted to return to the TMC. The BJP has done nothing for Bengal,” he added.
Earlier in June, BJP MP and national party vice-president Mukul Roy rejoined TMC four years after leaving the Mamata Banerjee-led party to join the BJP. Trinamool Congress, led by Mamata Banerjee, won 213 seats in the recent West Bengal Assembly elections. The Bharatiya Janata party won 77 seats in the 294-seat state assembly.
