Anti-mask New York Post requires all its employees to wear masks according to Murdoch’s latest sign of media hypocrisy

“Masks walking on the floor or not on the desk are needed,” Sean Giancola, editor and chief executive of the tabloid, said in an Aug. 12 note.

The formal guide attached to Giancola’s note said that employees had to “hide” and “cover up.” [their] face when moving away [their] at the counter or chatting with classmates “.

The New York Post’s mandate is the latest example of the blatant hypocrisy of Murdoch’s media empire. Murdoch’s media organizations, such as Fox News and the Post, have disregarded public health officials and the guidelines they issue on vaccines and masks. But these media organizations have silently demanded that their employees follow the same health protocols they have published in print and on-air format.

The right-wing tabloid, for example, has repeatedly questioned the mandates of masks and said they are not necessary, especially for vaccinated people.

When the CDC said in July that it recommended that vaccinated people wear masks in areas with “substantial” and “high” community transmission of Covid-19, the Post called it “madness.”

“This is nonsense, and pernicious as well,” the Post’s editorial board wrote at the time.

The Post has also asked other agencies to lift the mask’s mandate.

In a July 7 article, the editorial board said it was “time to undo the mandate of masks on trains and buses.” That publisher said wearing a mask on public transportation is “useless and performative.”

“It’s time for him to lift the mask’s mandate,” the Post’s editorial board stated.

The front page of the July 30 newspaper also carried a banner headline that said “INSANITY!” He highlighted the odds that a vaccinated person would get seriously ill with Covid-19 and asked, “Why panic? Why the mandates of the new mask? Why doesn’t it make common sense?”

The Post has published stories during the pandemic questioning whether masks really prevent the spread of Covid-19, although public health officials, independent doctors and studies have indicated that they do.

The recent orientation of the Post also said that employees should do a daily health check “every day before entering the office”.

The Post note, however, did not indicate that employees should be vaccinated to return to the office.
