FLORIDA CITY, Fla. – On Saturday, anyone who showed up 18 years of age or older with a medical grade or not, whether or not they met the eligibility requirements, was able to receive a COVID-19 shot at a FEMA Florida City location.
It’s unclear why workers handled shots in the arms of anyone 18 or older, but there may have been low demand at the site over the past week. However, Governor Ron DeSantis ’order dictates that recipients in this age group must belong to a high-risk category and arrive with a medical note or a doctor-signed eligibility form.
The news quickly spread on social media about the shootings at everyone in the city of Florida, prompting many people on Sunday hoping to get a chance at the Youth Activity Center.
Saima Haque said a tweet prompted her to drive nearly 100 miles from Boynton Beach in hopes of receiving the shot.

“I saw a tweet on Twitter about people over the age of 18. They were giving yesterday and will do the same today. My father at home is sick, so we’re just trying to get it,” Haque said. we can’t do anything, ”he said.
It didn’t work. In fact, FEMA site operators returned to the governor’s order as soon as the site reopened Sunday morning.
Florida City Police were available to control the crowd and help get the message across. Many people who did not meet the requirements were rejected.
The round trip to the Florida city site prompted the mayor of Miami-Dade to issue a tweet to the governor urging him to expand his eligibility requirements.
“Our top priority should be to get shot in the arms as quickly as possible and make sure that no available vaccine is used. I urge the governor to expand eligibility requirements to meet the high demand of our community and the whole state. “
