Apparently, Battlefield 2042 was delayed: reports

Probably that Battlefield 2042 will not arrive on the October 22 release date. EA has not yet officially announced any plan changes, but several experts have stated that a delay will be announced before the end of the week.

GamesBeat journalist Jeff Grubb was the first to hint that another game will be delayed this week on Twitter. Although Grubb did not specifically name Battlefield 2042 initially, he later confirmed that the DICE shooter is indeed the game he was referring to in his Discord, as captured by @ Okami13.

Informant Tom Henderson has also come in to say so they have heard similar news. However, the different parties do not appear to agree on the length of the delay. Some suggest the game has backtracked until 2022, while Henderson expects the delay to only backfire him for a few weeks, apparently pushing him to some point in November.

DICE and EA have been unusual about Battlefield 2042 in recent weeks. Outside of the game’s initial revelation and the next Battlefield Portal announcement, the developer has been excited about showing / talking about the game. We still have to watch a full multiplayer game, for example, or meet the other specialists, a few weeks after the launch. This is unusual for the Battlefield release.

The beta version of the game, which is scheduled to run this month, has not been given an official date or detailed in any significant way. This lack of news has led many to worry about the state of development, and that is partly why this delay (if proven to be true) will not come as a surprise to most.

In 2018, Battlefield 5 was withdrawn in late November, one month from the release date initially announced in late October.

Still, given that we’re doing very well in mid-September, the official news (good or bad) shouldn’t be too far away.
