Apple is reflecting on Touch ID recovery for next year’s iPhone

Apple is reportedly rethinking Touch ID back to iPhones.

The Silicon Valley giant signed the fingerprint sensor’s death warrant in 2017 when it began gradually removing the home button from its flagship phones, but is now testing a version of Touch ID that will be displayed below the screen of the iPhone, according to Bloomberg.

Facial identification was very popular when it was introduced, but it has bothered users over the past year as they have been forced to wear masks during the coronavirus pandemic. The company previously updated its software to allow users to enter their passwords more quickly.

However, the next generation of iPhones would not abandon facial identification, but would give users the option of how they would like to unlock their phones. Apple recently added Touch ID to the iPad Air activation button.

Apple is also considering removing the charging port completely on upcoming iPhones, which would allow devices to only recharge their batteries by wireless charging.
