Apple today released the new 3C39 firmware designed for the AirPods Max, which marks the second firmware update that high-end headphones have received since its launch in December.
The new 3C39 firmware replaces the 3C16 launch firmware that was available on the day the AirPods Max was launched.
Apple does not provide details on what is included in the new firmware updates, so we do not know what bug fixes or improvements the new firmware may offer. There have been reports of battery life issues with irAirPods Max, so a firmware update may fix this issue.
There is no standard way to update the firmware to AirPods, AirPods Pro, or irAirPods Max, but connecting the irAirPods Max to an iPhone or iPad while connected to a power supply may force the upgrade.
You can check the firmware of your irAirPods Max by following these steps:
- Connect your irAirPods Max to your iOS device.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap General.
- Tap About.
- Tap “AirPods.”
- See the number next to “Firmware Version”.
In the past, AirPods Pro and AirPods updates include performance improvements, bug fixes, and feature changes, so if we find noticeable changes after installing firmware updates, we’ll update this article.
