Apple’s upgrades to the MacBook Pro range are scheduled, mini LED vendors reported, countering claims of component shortages that cause production issues and delays.
Apple is expected to present an updated 16-inch MacBook Pro along with a 14-inch MacBook Pro as part of the fall product launch. While some rumors have spread that the shortage is affecting production, sources in a report on Tuesday claim that production is over.
Industry sources Digitimes say shipments of LEDs and associated components to Apple’s mounting partners related to MacBook Pro models are on schedule. The launch of a MacBook Pro series equipped with LEDs takes place in October or November.
When the new models are shipped, sources say the total shipments in 2021 will be estimated at nearly four million units. This roughly equates to the 15- and 16-inch MacBook Pro shipping volumes after upgrading the line.
On September 2, another Digitimes The report stated that the new models were affected by the global shortage of components, a problem that was supposedly postponed production in April 2021.
Production of the new models allegedly began in August, with shipments of between 600,000 and 800,000 units a month led by assembly partners.
Given the considerable amount of rumors that say there will be a launch in the fall, it seems plausible that everything will go as planned for Apple. However, there is still no real confirmation of when Apple will present the models and ship them.
