Apple Watch calls for immediate help for the man who fell through the ice

A New Hampshire man was skating on an icy river when he fell through the ice, but got help very close to using his Apple Watch instantly.

Firefighters responded to a 911-minute call after William Rogers fell through the ice into the Salmon Falls River in New Hampshire. He skated on the ice and didn’t realize the ice was thin enough to fall on.

“I remember saying to myself,‘ Okay, don’t be scared. Don’t be scared, “Rogers said.” Find out what options you have here. ”

As the seconds passed and the hypothermia was about to set in, he remembered he was carrying his Apple Watch and used it to call 911.

“So I told them I probably had ten minutes before I couldn’t answer anymore,” he said.

The fire department that provided the rescue was able to reach five minutes of the call via the Apple Watch.
