After several complaints about disorganization and long lines that create unsafe conditions in the county, the vaccine will only be made by appointment in the county, starting Monday. That’s when the vaccine will be given by appointment at the Solomon Calhoun Community Center, next to State Road 207, in St. Louis. Augustine (1300 Duval St.).

For several days, the county health department has offered vaccines against COVID-19 on a first-come, first-served basis. This caused hundreds of people to be desperate to get the vaccine lined up in their cars for miles at the department office in San Sebastian View, next to the US 1.

After many people camped in their cars overnight to make sure of a place in the queue, the health department chose Saturday to hand out 600 bracelets and pull the rest of the people away.

On Sunday, the last day of arrival of the first department, the first vaccines served, 250 were expected to be vaccinated at the health department office. Deputies limited the line overnight, so it was only guaranteed that the first 250 in line would get the vaccine. Everyone was left out. In addition, cars lined up in the parking lot of the county government complex instead of U.S. 1.

“No matter how hectic it has been, we now have some peace of mind,” said Tim Willits on Sunday, who arrived Saturday at 6 p.m.

Hbernhard Clever, who arrived at 5.30pm on Saturday, said on Sunday: “I think today’s organization has been better than yesterday. It’s very overwhelming that a lot of people who come want to shoot. “

Conrad said the 200 seats on the health department’s waiting list have already been filled by the time slots for Monday. The health department said that once these people are vaccinated, the department’s initial allocation of 3,000 vaccines will be completed.
