I’m not a big fan of slugs to begin with, but I am a fan of slugs Rainbow Six event will make me the Joker.

The crossover event between mobile games Arknights i Rainbow Six Siege, Originium Dust, finishes in a day, and I still haven’t cleared the main search line. Arknights it can be a remarkably difficult real-time strategy game, so I was used to fighting during the main missions in the story. But I didn’t expect mobile developers to impact a crossover promotional event.

Overall, the collaboration is surprisingly well done. Arknights is a mobile defense game with Gacha elements. Think Plants against Zombies, except that the plants are very well-designed anime characters wearing futuristic street fashion and superpowering enemy rebels fighting by military means. In the meantime, Rainbow Six Siege is a first-person shooter where players conduct counterterrorism operations.

So while the realistic visual style of Rainbow Six It may seem a little awkward alongside the colorful designs of Arknights, their stories are quite similar to the Hoop operators feel natural participants in the event.

At the start of the crossover event, I was immediately introduced Rainbow Six operators such as Ash, Tachanka, Blitz and Frost. Although implemented in the game as playable operators, their designs were remarkably muted compared to most Arknights‘fashion cast. And while most of the cast speaks Japanese in this Chinese mobile game, the Rainbow Six operators only speak English. Despite the differences in aesthetics, origin and gender, Arknights was able to seamlessly integrate the file Rainbow Six characters in the existing game making them feel Arknights it works in terms of the game. He Hoop the characters are permanent operators that will be useful long after the event ends.

That’s why it turned out to be so frustrating that the last main level of the event is so hard to come by. Arknights events usually have two stages: the main levels and the bonus levels. Not being able to complete this stage blocks me from half of the rewards of the event. However, here I am, fighting helplessly against the waves of originating tumors. Two of these slug-like creatures appear after the death of each enemy and the head of this level will generate them periodically. They are incredibly annoying in a tower defense game like Arknights, where the powerful characters on your side don’t matter if they can’t prevent all the enemies from going past the player’s defenses.

YouTubers have wiped out this event with rare characters, so I’ve seen that it’s possible with my own eyes. But this level still requires tons of micromanagement. If I let even a tumor slug slip my defenses, I can’t get the perfect longing. This is at the top of the head invulnerability stage and its periodic attack across the map.

Prolific Arknights said strategist KyoStinV “This is officially my most hated stage,” moment I knew they were fucking me. Neither is he. Various reditors they have completely failed the stage. And players who got a perfect, clear note that the automatic game, which uses the game’s AI to play the same options for additional resources, will often fail. The fact that doing the same is not a guarantee for success makes overcoming the level more like luck than smart tactical decisions.

Many successful players mentioned the addition of Surtr, the most powerful Guard operator Arknights. But this strategy is not always possible in a Gacha game, as Surtr is an extremely rare six-star character. Players can borrow characters from their friends, but this requires meeting other players who have the same low chances of getting a rare character. And none of my friends have Surtr at their highest level.

Originium Dust is a well-implemented collaboration. It’s a shame it happened while Arknights the developers decided to design one of the most difficult levels of the whole game.
