British retailer Argos is receiving a lot of negative comments online after the two-morning release of PlayStation 5. The console has been nearly impossible to get since its launch in November, thanks in large part to resellers who they use robots. Unfortunately, it’s not much easier to secure a system when a retailer releases their stock, as most people are still asleep, which is exactly what happened this time. According to the retailer, stocks were only made available when the site is updated, which happens early in the morning. Unfortunately, this is one more hurdle for potential PS5 owners.
Below is an Argos tweet explaining the version.
They are published at that time because that is when our website, Ian. Sorry for the inconvenience. – Effects

This response will probably not make customers happier with the release at night and may even mean more PS5 downloads will occur at similar times. As complicated issues, several customers cited site-related issues stating that the system was in stock, but did not allow it to be added to the cart. Others were able to add the system, but were unable to verify it. The whole situation seems like a big mess, which leaves many disappointed.
The situation around PS5 resellers in the UK has been so dire that Parliament is considering a ban on reselling consoles in the region. Meanwhile, Argos is currently looking for ways to curb the use of robots. In another Tweet, the retailer told a frustrated PlayStation fan that Argos “is working on implementing measures to stop scalpers to ensure everyone has a good chance.” It remains to be seen what those measures may be, but they may not arrive soon enough for some players.
For now, PlayStation fans will only have to keep trying and wait for Sony to be able to increase supply to meet current demand. Of course, retailers like Argos will also have to find ways to ensure that robots are not able to get that supply as well.
