Arik Gilbert of LSU Tigers says he plans to transfer it

Arik Gilbert, ESPN’s No. 6 recruit in the 2020 class, says he enters the NCAA transfer portal.

Gilbert announced his plans on Twitter.

“After careful consideration and collaboration with my family, I have decided to enter the transfer portal,” Gilbert tweeted. “I would like to thank God for granting me His blessings.”

Gilbert, 6-foot 5 and 249 pounds, ranked third on the team with 35 receptions and had 368 receiving yards and two touchdowns in eight games for LSU.

On December 9, he chose not to participate in the rest of the LSU season. Coach Ed Orgeron said he expected Gilbert to return to the Tigers in 2021.

Gilbert, ESPN’s top candidate and Georgia’s top class 2020 candidate, chose LSU over Georgia and Alabama. His name has not yet appeared on the transfer portal.
