Art Brails resigns as coach of Mount Vernon High School football

The school announced Monday that former Baylor head football coach Art Brails resigned as head coach at Mount Vernon (Texas) High School.

Briels, who was 20-6 at the small East Texas school for two seasons, led the Tigers to the state semifinals this year. This is his first training job in the United States since being fired from Baylor following an investigation into how allegations of sexual violence against women and other assaults were resolved. He also coached a season in a professional league in Italy.

“After coaching 42 football games in the last 22 months from Florence, Italy to Mount Vernon, Texas, I respectfully resign,” the report said. He also thanked the school superintendent and team for providing this opportunity.

This office’s training carousel, including Liberty’s, has been the target of Braille speculation if Hugh Freese wants to leave for another job. Ian McCaw, who resigned at Baylor in the midst of this scandal, is Liberty’s athletic director.

Prior’s resignation is due to be presented to the NCAA panel on the same day.

Among other allegations, sources have previously stated that Bailers is accused of failing to establish institutional control and faces the charge of failing to promote a consensual environment, which are Level I violations, which are very serious under NCAA rules.

Briels and Mecca have been asked to participate in the investigation, along with former Baylor chairman Kenneth Starr and other former Baylor executives.

This month, KWTX-TV Atlanta law firm Allston & Byrd in Waco received a report appointing John Eddie Williams, a leading baller booster and Braille believer. “We are not aware of any behavior by Coach Braille who coached the coach in advance to consider him as a candidate to coach football again at the college level,” the report concluded.
