When I think about it Assassin’s Creed games, I often remember big cities, great murders, climbs to tall towers and maybe some sea huts. I rarely remember how these games end because they often have unforgettable or boring endings, sometimes with bad boss fights. Tan Assassin’s Creed Syndicate stands out as an exception with its fantastic final mission and boss fight.

Oh, and in case that wasn’t obvious, spoilers for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate low.

I will not tell the whole story of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, but here’s a quick rundown to catch up. An evil Templar controls London and is an asshole. Twins Evie and Jacob Frye arrive in London, meet a stabbed companion, Henry Green, and work together to overthrow the great evil Templar, Crawford Starrick. (He has a bad mustache and all.)

Finally, after many missions and parallel missions, the end of the game is reached. Starrick will attack and kill the Queen of England at his palace during a big ball and the twins and Green will have to sneak in, stop him and find an ancient Isu artifact buried under Buckingham Palace. (It’s a Assassin’s Creed game, therefore, is legally required to be part of the end.)

What makes this mission so wonderful is the path Trade union use both twins at the same time. For most of the game, the twins are separate characters between whom you switch whenever you want. But this final mission unites them and creates a great final mission that uses them in different ways. Evie, dressed in a large suit, must rely on social secrecy to achieve the plans that will reveal the location of the vault, which is somewhere under the palace. Meanwhile, Jacob must go up around the palace, removing impostor guards and freeing the abducted and bound. real royal guards.

Letting yourself play with both twins at the same time isn’t just a good way to use it Trade union two main characters, but it also helps the whole final mission feel bigger and more exciting than any other mission in the game. You know the queen, even. It’s a big deal.

Finally, after the articulate Starrick gets the key to Isu’s hidden vault, Jacob and Evie chase him and a great final battle ensues against the boss. But again, like the first part of the mission, this final fight alternates the twins. Starrick attacks as one, then makes you fall again, and then the other twin dodges some Isu-light magic walls and attacks again. On paper, it may seem repetitive. But in practice, it seems like you work together with your twin. And it makes Starrick a more intimidating and interesting villain.

This is the biggest criticism I have with this ending. Starrick is supposed to be the big bad guy in the game, but he’s so far removed from what happens while you play that I didn’t really care about either the goals or him. But the final mission still works using the twins as tandem weapons. It might have been nice if more of the game had used them as partners like this, but staying behind until the end makes the final mission and fight more exciting and compelling.

Although it is more recent Assassin’s Creed the games have allowed players to choose between the main characters of men and women; Trade union. Having the two characters playable and made entirely as separate people, with their own goals and personalities, allows the story to take better advantage of them and allows Ubisoft to launch them into the final mission to create the best ending in the series so far. . .
