Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will have “stronger and longer” post-release support than Odyssey

Assassin's Creed Valhalla updates post-release support

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has been a huge success for Ubisoft. The open world viking adventure was released in November last year on both PS5 and PS4. Shortly afterwards, the French publisher announced that Valhalla had enjoyed the “biggest release” in the series’ history. And earlier this week, Ubisoft confirmed that it had its best quarter in financial terms – a huge turnout led by the success of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

With all of this in mind, it makes sense for Ubisoft to do all-in on Valhalla, and apparently, that’s exactly what it will do. During its most recent earnings call, the company reiterated that post-launch assistance is a priority, stating that Valhalla “will benefit from a stronger and longer launch program” than Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

To sum up, the post-Odyssey launch support was quite stellar. It received two solid expansions (each split into three episodes) and a plethora of free content updates that added requested features, new missions, and more. In comparison, Valhalla has started quite slowly, but it is correct to assume that the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has had an impact on the developer’s plans (as well as on the overall problems of the game).

That said, February should be a big month for Valhalla. The game’s ‘River Raid’ update is set to be released this month, bringing new activity to the foggy coasts of medieval England. There is also a list of bug fixes, and right now we expect it all to fall apart at once.

Beyond that, the first expansion of the title, “Wrath of the Druids”, is still underway for release this spring. We should hear more soon.

In any case, if Valhalla manages to get past Odyssey’s roadmap after the launch, fans should be delighted. As it stands, the Assassin’s Creed community seems to be a bit divided over the direction of the game; recently there was some outcry about the title’s questionable microtransaction store. Hopefully these incoming updates can fix the problem.
