It is the weather station with snow, holiday parties and drunken Vikings. The last update of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla add a new festive-themed event to the game and cover your settlement in the snow. But while the new free update is a bit fun and festive, adding new armor and decorations also has some annoying bugs.
The most important and notable change of the update is that your settlement, Ravensthorpe, is now covered in beautiful snow and Yuletide decorations. And some local partygoers have helped put together a great event with singing, drinking, contests and much more drinking. After all, we are still Vikings. So next time you start Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and upon returning to your settlement, you will receive some new missions related to the event.
Some of them are to help set up the celebration, while others allow you to participate in the actual events of the party.
For example, you’ll need to visit your brewery and locate a missing special holiday barrel. Another search led me to locate some cattle that had escaped after the man watching them was frightened by one of the cows. These cattle had to be slaughtered and served at the party, so to help you save the day you will have to take the man and locate these missing cows to save Chri … I mean, the Festival of Yule.

Back at the party, you’ll find some missions that from what I can tell are repeatable. There’s a new archery contest to participate in, a drink contest as you might expect, and a big wrestling tournament in which you get progressively intoxicated as you compete. None of these missions or events are incredibly complex or related to the main story of Valhalla, but it’s okay. I’m not looking for a great DLC right now after devoting 100 hours to the base game. I just want to have fun and enjoy the season with my Viking friends.
When you complete all of these missions, you’ll earn Yule tokens to spend at the newly built festival store. Inside you will find some Yuletide decorations for your settlement, such as a cozy bonfire. There are also some new armor and weapons, all part of the Mōdraniht ensemble. Personally, none of the armor or weapons look better than the end-of-game things I’m rocking, but I’ll still save a few chips to buy these things, because it will only exist until January 7th. , be prepared to shred a bit of repeatable events.
Unfortunately, while enjoying the snowy settlements, decorations, and new missions, I was disappointed in the madness of all this content. Many missions had markers floating somewhere random on the map. I was only able to finish the missing mead barrel mission thanks to someone posting a tweet showing the message real departure location. Other missions were broken directly. The archery contest, for example, didn’t count any of the successes or failures in my score. Then when I tried again later, it worked, so maybe the lady participating in the contest had too many cups of special mead I had brought.
We hope that these problems will be solved soon and in the future Assassin’s Creed Valhalla events will be launched in a more stable state. As a big fan of festive themed video game events, this is good when it works. For now, if you’re interested in getting some new armor or digitally visiting a big holiday party, the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Yule Season Event will be live until January 7 on all platforms.
