A gruesome video captured rescuers desperately trying to overflow the windshield of a Mexican Air Force plane that crashed into takeoff and killed at least six soldiers, according to reports.
The Learjet 45 crashed to the ground after taking off at around 9:45 a.m. Sunday from El Lencero Airport to Emiliano Zapata, near the city of Xalapa, in the state of Veracruz, Reuters reported, citing the defense secretariat.
Dramatic images show rescue personnel trying to break the plane’s windshield into flames as it throws flames and thick smoke.
The six victims have not been identified and the military will conduct an investigation, the ministry added.
It was unclear how many people were on board the convicted flight.
“We express our deepest condolences to our comrades-in-arms,” the secretariat said, according to the Agence França-Presse.
