At least six Hondurans are awaiting sentencing this year

Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

The new year will be decisive for Honduran politicians, ex-policemen and businessmen involved in cocaine trafficking in the United States.

U.S. justice will issue convictions against about six compatriots who were found guilty of being linked to the drug trafficking business.

According to the judicial schedule, the first to be sentenced will be former nationalist MP Juan Antonio Tony Hernández.

The reading of his sentence is scheduled for January 27th.

Tony Hernandez faces a conviction between 40 years and life imprisonment, after being found guilty of drug trafficking, use of weapons of war and lying to federal agents.

On the other hand, on March 5, former Liberal MP Fredy Renán Nájera will finally know his conviction for drug trafficking and possession of weapons of war.

In Nájera he is involved in overcrowding of 20 kilograms of cocaine.

Nájera agreed to hand him over to US authorities in March 2018.

The New York Court is also preparing to issue a ruling against drug police Ludwig Criss Zelaya and Juan Manuel Ávila Meza.

Both will go to court on March 24 to participate in the final hearing prior to the issuance of their sentence.

He will also stand trial and receive his sentence the former police officer Mauricio Hernández Pineda. Businessman Geovanny Fonts Ramirez, linked to the Cachiros cartel, will go to trial and receive his sentence in mid-2021.
