OAKLAND – Tony Kemp hit a two-run homer that ended the tie against Chad Green in the eighth inning and the Oakland Athletics beat the Yankees again, beating New York’s ninth on Sunday 3-1.
On Saturday, Oakland ended the Yankees ’13-game winning streak with a 3-2 win that also ended the Athletics’ six-game losing streak. New York has lost two games in a row for the first time since July 22-23.
Kemp entered as an emerging hitter in the seventh inning and finished 2-2 with his fifth strikeout of the season, three of them against the Yankees.
Green (7-6) ceded his 11th toddler of the campaign.
Venezuelan Deolis Guerra (2-1) threw an eighth blank entry. Andrew Chafin pulled off the last three outs to get his second save of the season.
