Geisha Lance Bottoms was honored for being offered a role in the cabinet, which she politely declined, ”senior adviser Rashad Taylor said in a statement on Saturday. “The mayor’s focus is on the people of Atlanta and the larger state of Georgia.” It was rumored that Bottoms was being considered for the post of Secretary for Housing and Urban Development or for the post of Head of Small Business Administration at the Cabinet level. A New Yorker reporter on Friday said he would offer a less valuable role as ambassador to the Bahamas. Change denied that statement Friday, and Taylor did it again Saturday. While his response to the unrest in his city over the summer has generally been well received, the 50-year-old Bottoms is seen as a rising star in the Democratic Party. His decision not to join the Biden administration was first announced by the Atlanta Journal – Constitution. Before it was here, it was at the Bloomberg terminal. Learn more.
