Take your time
It’s time to register with Japanese Studios at the end of the year, through Famitsu’s series of annual interviews. So far we’ve learned vague plans for both Platinum and Square Enix, but the Atlus part of the billing is fascinating in itself.
Famitsu caught up with three of Atlus ’top developers, all with different goals. Shinjirou Takata, producer of the Shin Megami Tensei series, is very down to earth in the next Shin Megami Tensei V. His key word for 2021 is “think outside the box” (this series and person, usually), and he and his team are “working hard on development,” though we’ll have to wait “a little longer” for it to materialize. Take your time!
As for Katsura Hashino (who is dedicated to almost everything in Atlus, including the two franchises mentioned), he will focus on “silence” in 2021, implying that the impact of the current pandemic on game development has caused him and his team to be more focused. Still, he would like to “announce the title [they’re] developing as soon as possible, ”which is a“ fantasy RPG ”project.
Kazuhisa Wada (chief designer and occasionally director / producer of person games) is totally focused on person apparently, and his project has been “constantly in the works.” Wada gets the last word and manages to mock “exciting plans” for his 25th birthday person. Vaga! But promising.
