Authorities report they are “completely silent” in the case of a young man who died of devil’s acid

The executive director of the Office for the Development of Women in the Province of the Mirabal Sisters, Linabel González, has denounced that so far the relatives of the young Yanelis Arias, who died last Friday after being attacked with devil’s acid , have not received any information from the authorities.

“There is a lack of information from the competent authorities to the family and society. They are completely silent, although they have said that some steps have been taken. The family has no information in this regard as they commented to me. last night, they have nothing new “, González stated when being interviewed on the television program El dia al Huchi Lora and Edith Febles.

The official stressed that although they “understand” that not all information can be shared by the Public Ministry, there are basic things that by fundamental right families should know.

During the interview, Gonzalez revealed that while Yanelis was alive and “aware of what was happening” she was never interviewed by the prosecution.

“On one occasion it was the Public Ministry (in a medical center), she was very bandaged because she had undergone a surgical procedure, however, the interrogation had been scheduled for this Wednesday,” he said.

He warned that there is evidence that “they may be lost along the way”, so his relatives “are filled with uncertainty” by not being the target of the actions carried out by the authorities or knowing the information that is they have to share.

No one is detained

Gonzalez stressed that so far the authorities have not arrested anyone, although there is speculation about the person who could be the intellectual perpetrator of the crime.

“The suspicions are about a man paying someone (…) I don’t know, nor do I know, but from the comments and what he had talked to the family is a man,” he expressed on the show.

The official called on the Attorney General’s Office and the National Police to take over the investigation with technical staff who “do not have many local relations.”

“In the face of this situation everything is possible, we must rule out any situation of local relations that may have (…) It is essential the issue of transparency in the handling of this case,” he said.

“The fact that it is with the culprit is not going to bring Yanelis back to life but it is a response to society, it is a response that society needs,” he concluded.

They tricked her with flowers
