Avelo Airlines said Thursday it will begin flying on April 28 to 11 destinations from Burbank Hollywood Airport. It has one-way rates starting at $ 19.
Avelo’s inaugural routes focus on smaller California airports. Other destinations include Oregon, Colorado and Montana.
The carrier will fly with Boeing 737.
Avelo rates do not include exchange rates or call center rates for guests who choose to make reservations by phone.
Avelo was created by a long-time executive who believes there is room for another low-cost airline in addition to the various economic airlines that already exist in the market.
“There are too few seats in the United States that offer low-cost carriers. That’s why we think the opportunity is huge,” said Andrew Levy, president and CEO of Avelo. “Customers want a really cheap way to get from point A to point B.”
Although Avelo called Houston his corporate home, he did not immediately express plans to add any of the city’s airports as destinations.
While Houstonians won’t be able to save significant money at extremely low rates, Avelo offers a number of jobs outside of the city. If you are looking for a job, you can check out Avelo’s open position on their website.
