Bahrain approves Chinese COVID-19 vaccine

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (AB) – Bahrain on Sunday approved the use of the Chinese corona virus vaccine, following prior approval of a vaccine manufactured by Pfizer and its German partner Bioendech. Bahrain’s state news agency reports that the synopharm vaccine is available in the island kingdom off the coast of Saudi Arabia in the Persian Gulf. According to the United Arab Emirates, it provided some details on the vaccine’s study results, which last week declared the vaccine 86% effective. The Emirati report provided some details, but first released information about the performance of the shot. Bahrain said more than 7,700 people in the country have signed up to take part in the synoform vaccine test. The Kingdom has previously said it plans to provide free corona virus vaccines to the public, but has not yet answered any questions about its program. The synoform vaccine has been approved for emergency use in a few countries, and the company is still conducting clinical trials in 10 countries. Morocco is preparing for an ambitious COVID-19 vaccination program, which aims to vaccinate 80% of adults starting this month, initially relying on the synoform vaccine. Synoform shot relies on tested technology, such as how vaccines and polio vaccines are made using the killed virus. Leading Western competitors, such as Shot produced by Pfizer and its German partner Bioendech, use new, less proven technology to target the spike protein of the corona virus using RNA. The United Kingdom has already begun vaccinating people with the Pfizer shot, and the United States is ready to follow suit soon. Already, Pfizer reports that its shot is 95% effective, while another RNA candidate from Moderna appears to be 94.5% effective. The results from the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca suggest that a third vaccine is safe and 70% effective, but there are questions about how much it can help protect people over 55. On Sunday, the Kuwaiti state-run Guna News Agency reported to the oil-rich country’s health ministry that the Pfizer vaccine had been given emergency use. Already, the ministry has provided the opportunity for citizens to pre-register for the vaccine on its website. .
