Baltimore Ravens adds RB Le’Veon Bell to practice the squad, the source says

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Baltimore Ravens signed Le’Veon Bell runner-up Pro Bowl three times on Tuesday to their training team to help their field field full of injuries, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Bell, 29, is likely to soon reach the list of 53 men, the source added.

Bell’s incorporation comes after the Ravens lost the third Justice Hill string due to an Achilles injury on Thursday. Baltimore had already lost runner JK Dobbins when the ACL broke his left knee in the preseason finale.

Bell, who worked Monday in Baltimore, will provide experience and the ability to catch up behind incumbent Gus Edwards and Ty’Son Williams.

In 2019, the Ravens had a chance to sign Bell to the free agency, but chose to add Mark Ingram, who played for Baltimore for two seasons before being released in January.

After winning more than 1,000 yards in three of his five seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Bell has not been the same player since participating in the 2018 season. Last season he added 328 yards running and two touchdowns with the New Yorkers. York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs.

The Ravens could also sign a young runner who could also help on special teams, a source said.

Bell is not the first former Pro Bowl player to sign for the Ravens’ training squad. Last season, Baltimore added big receiver Dez Bryant to his training roster before elevating him to the 53-man roster.
