PHOENIX – At a press conference on Friday, Banner Health officials report that the capacity of the morgues has been exceeded due to the recent deaths from COVID-19 and that 55% of the ICU beds in its facilities are occupied by COVID-19 patients.
Dra. Marjorie Bessel, clinical director of Banner, said 49% of all patients are being treated for COVID-19.
“These deaths have caused us to exceed our morgue capacity in some of our hospitals,” Bessel said.
Bessel added that Banner Health uses refrigerated trucks to expand the capacity of the morgues at Banner-University Medical Center Phoenix.
