AMBALA: An Indian of Afghan descent of Indian nationality Bansri Lal Arendeh (about 50) belonging to the Hindu Khost community in Afghanistan was allegedly abducted at gunpoint from Kabul on the morning of Tuesday, September 14, in Puneet Singh Chandhok, President of the World Forum of India.
According to reports, Arendeh, whose family lives in Faridabad, Delhi region, is a businessman who has been working in pharmaceuticals in Afghanistan for the past two decades and who, along with staff, was on his way to his shop in Kabul when the incident occurred.
Local sources in Kabul have confirmed that Bansri Lal has been missing for more than 36 hours since Tuesday morning.
Sources reported that the incident took place under the boundaries of Kabul Police District (PD) 11 and that local Kabul police registered a case of Arendeh’s abduction and began the investigation.
Chandhok highlighted the issue with the Government of India and called for the intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Interior Minister Amit Shah and Union Foreign Minister S Jaishankar to help the family at the highest level.
Chandhok tweeted on Wednesday morning: “Alarming to learn of the gun abduction of Bansri Lal Arendeh, a 50-year-old #Afghan Hindu Indian citizen in #Kabul yesterday morning. I ask @narendramodi ji @DSJaishankar ji @AmitShah ji @MEAIndia that he intervenes and helps the family at the highest level and rescues him “.
Manjinder Singh (MS), leader of the Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee of Delhi (DSGMC), Sirsa, also called for the intervention of the Government of India.
Ms Sirsa said: “After the kidnapping of Bansri Lal at gunpoint by some gunmen, his brother and some members of the local community filed a complaint for his abduction. He is a well-established businessman in Kabul. “I have spoken to the people of Kabul. I urge the Foreign Ministry to intervene immediately and rescue Bansri Lal as soon as possible. Kabul’s minorities are concerned about their lives and security.”
When contacted about the measures taken and the investigations of the Kabul authorities, Chadhok said: “Unit 021 of the intelligence department of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has seized the case and is currently members of the local community met with local officials earlier today (Wednesday), but so far the identity and motive of their captors have not been established. the hijackers took him in a vehicle used mainly by Taliban officials. As for Arendeh, Chandhok said, “His family lives in India and is of Indian nationality from a family that works in business and continues to travel to Afghanistan to work. His older brother Ashok Kumar, who is his partner business, he is also in Kabul. Bansri Lal was in Kabul before the Taliban took over the government there and wanted to come to India but could not come as the evacuation flights could not work properly. ”
