ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The situation of a gunman barricaded in Royal Oak ended Saturday night when the alleged gunman was shot by police and taken to hospital.
According to authorities, police responded to a report of a domestic dispute between a father and his adult son at a 2700 block block on Oliver Road around 2 p.m., police said the 34-year-old was intoxicated and assaulted his father. who called 911.
Neighbors said the man was ex-military and was believed to be suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder when he assaulted his father.
Police added that he was heavily armed, wearing armor and barricaded himself inside the Royal Oak residence.
Police said he made phone contacts with the son and repeatedly tried to convince him to surrender peacefully. Police said he could hear shots from inside the house and the suspect made threats to shoot officers.
Police set a perimeter and urged the area, on Galpin and Glenview avenues and on Oliver and Glenwood roads, to take refuge in their place, stay away from windows and cover themselves in basements if possible. .

Police said around four in the afternoon, the Oakland County SWAT team arrived, took charge of the situation and continued to negotiate with the man inside.
After about two and a half hours of no contact, police said they used a SWAT robot and a drone to walk through the door and search the house.
Authorities said communication with the alleged gunman was restored after the drone was disqualified.
“There was a lady with the police department talking to Jason. She was saying, ‘Jason, get out with your hands up,'” said neighbor Ted Boiteau.
“So it seemed,” Carol Boiteau said.
“I was trying to do it,” Ted Boiteau said. “That lasted quite a while and as I spoke, we heard a shot.”
“And then everything was quiet,” Carol Boiteau said.
The shot came from police at 8:28 p.m.
According to authorities, the alleged gunman left the house around 8:30 p.m., aimed a rifle at police officers and a member of the SWAT team shot him.

Police said MPs and the Royal Oak Fire Brigade administered aid to the man and he was rushed to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital.
As of 10 p.m., the alleged gunman was still alive in the hospital. Her parents are expected to be fine.
