Bassitt came out well from face surgery

OAKLAND – Before the Athletics thought of a date for Chris Bassitt’s return to the hill, they first wanted to make sure the pitcher came out well from a complicated surgery. On Tuesday, they received good news.

The Athletics announced that Bassitt was recovering well from face surgery on Tuesday morning in Chicago, where he will remain under medical care after being hit by a lineage on August 17th.

“That’s very good news,” manager Bob Melvin noted. “All we know about the surgery is that it turned out well. I think it turned out exceptionally well. We’re all happy with that.”

Bassitt is expected to continue recovering in the hospital for about 48-72 hours. After that, the Athletics anticipate that the right star will return to the Bay to continue his recovery.

Although Oakland is operating as if Bassitt wasn’t back on the hill this year, they still don’t rule out that possibility.

“I don’t think Chris’ season is over, ”Melvin said. “Once you get past the surgery, your mind will be on returning to the field.”
