Duke Staley he’s been an Eagles assistant for ten seasons, but the franchise’s back-to-back coach has landed on the Bears ’radar.
The Bears are interested in HC former NFL contender Adam Jahns of The Athletic tweets. While Staley arrived in Philly earlier Doug Pederson, worked with him Matt Nagyformer Chiefs co-worker for five seasons.
The Eagles are likely to incorporate a number of new assistants after hiring Colts OC Nick Sirianni as a substitute for Pederson. Staley was on the radar of the work that landed Sirianni, but he didn’t seem to gain much strength during the Philadelphia search. He was also replaced by Philly’s OC position when the team was promoted Mike Groh in 2018.
Nagy has seen two of his offensive assistants: the QBs coach Dave Ragone and runner coach Charles London – Defect in the Falcons this week. London will be the new Atlanta QBs coach, who will work with the new Falcons OC Ragone. Nagy will have to replace these employees, and Staley has extensive experience as an offensive staff.
A Philadelphia RB coach since 2013, Staley began his career at the quality control level two years earlier. He worked with Pederson, Chip Kelly i Andy Reid. The Eagles signed him as acting coach during Pederson’s fight with COVID-19 last summer. But with Sirianni, it’s unclear if Staley is still in the Eagles ’plans or if he wants to continue working as a position coach with another new Eagles HC.
