Bortage, Mitch. – The expulsion of the Pfizer vaccine from the portage set up the largest vaccination effort in American history.
Boxes of vaccines were packed and loaded on UPS and FedEx trucks, which excited past visitors by American marshals.
Nearly 3 million doses of the vaccine will be given to all 50 states.
Michigan will receive about 84,000 doses of the vaccine in the first round. They are delivered to 48 hospitals and 12 different health facilities – places where they can be stored at very low temperatures.
Michigan health officials will begin distributing the vaccine to leading workers.
Vaccines can be stored in super cold freezers once they arrive at Ascension Hospital in Warren and five hospitals in Henry Ford Health System.
Hetry Ford Health Systems CCO Dr. Adnan Munger said the vaccines are stored in hospitals in Detroit, Wyandotte, Macbeth, West Bloomfield and Jackson.
Beaumont Health estimates that about 14,000 Pfizers in the first batch will receive about 1,000 doses before moving on.
Beaumont Health Administrator Carolyn Wilson said her team was ready to go. They have about 11,000 leading workers who need vaccinations, so a lottery system is set up so the first 1,000 workers know who they are.
“This is a relief, very frankly. We’re so excited to be able to start the vaccination process. We want to start with our health heroes,” Wilson said. We are happy to serve them now with the vaccine. “
Excitement and hope for the first time in months.
It takes several months for the vaccine to be released, and health officials want to remind residents to follow the health distance as they want to avoid another spike in hospitalization.
ICU hospital beds are almost 80% full and 70% of all hospital beds in Michigan are full. Leading workers are asking for all the help they can to reduce that number.
