Belkin Car Vent Mount PRO with MagSafe Review

Belkin, known for the accessories it manufactures for Apple devices, recently announced its first MagSafe products, the MagSafe 3-in-1 Boost Charge Pro and Car Vent PRO wireless charger. The wireless charger has not yet been released, but the Belkin Car Vent Mount PRO launcher with agMagSafe‌ has been launched.

The Car Vent PRO is, as its name suggests, a support that has been created for use in the car with a design that adheres to the respirators of a car. Priced at $ 40, the Car Vent PRO is not a charger and has no charging capacity.

The accessory is a simple magnet-based mount that connects to ‌MagSafe‌ devices that include the iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max, which adhere to the ‌MagSafe‌ magnet built into these devices. It also works with agMagSafe‌ cases connected to ‌iPhone 12‌ models.

I’m not entirely sure why the Car Vent PRO has “Pro” stuck to its name because it’s a pretty simple assembly. It is made of a lightweight plastic material designed to look like aluminum with a softer material on the mounting part of the accessory to ensure that a connected iPhone is not scratched or damaged.

Its lightweight design is nice because it doesn’t put unnecessary weight on the car’s ventilation openings. There’s a silicone tip on the back of the Car Vent PRO that fits directly into a car’s air vents, with an approximate one-and-a-half-inch space between the vents and the front of the frame. . The grip is tight enough to make sure it doesn’t come off ventilation.

I’m not in the car often right now, so I haven’t been able to do extensive field testing on how the magnetic connection works. If my ‌iPhone‌ is connected, if I do a good shake on the mount, I can evict my doiPhone‌, but I have to put in a decent effort.

I suspect there are situations where a huge bump could dislodge the “iPhone” from the mount, but for a smoother day-to-day ride, it feels well attached. I made several trips on a fairly rugged road and had no problems with the magnetic connection with a ‌iphone 12‌ or a heavier iPhone 12 Pro Max, even at fast speeds and during turns.

Although there is no built-in charge, you can connect the Vent PRO to a Lightning cable in the car if you already have this setup, which makes it more useful. There is a point to route a cable through the back if you want to use it with a charger. My car’s charging ports are on the center console under a cover, so it’s not a convenient setup for my situation and I haven’t been able to test it with a cable connected.

The Car Vent PRO can be used in portrait or landscape mode with an ‌iPhone‌ attached, so depending on your car’s settings and how you prefer to view Maps, you can make it work the way you want. For ease of use in either orientation, the Car Vent PRO itself rotates thanks to an adjustable ball joint that can also change the angle of the phone as needed.

Bottom line

Belkin’s Car Vent PRO does what it’s supposed to do: it provides a way to mount your iPhone successfully in the right position to use apps like Maps while you’re in the car. The magnetic connection held up well in my tests and the adjustable labeling allows the mount to work in most vehicle configurations.

Compared to other mounting options, it’s simple because it doesn’t require additional hardware or magnets, and is basically the only mounting option ‌MagSafe‌ right now. If you need a car mount and have an ‌iphone 12‌, it’s worth checking out the Belkin option.
