Beshear reports 3,869 new cases of COVID-19; Positivity rate of 12.80%

FRANKFORT, Ky (WKYT) – Governor Andy Beshear has provided an update on COVID-19 cases.

Governor Beshear reported 3,869 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the total to 534,430 cases. The governor says the state has a positivity rate of 12.80%. Of the new cases on Friday, 1,158 are in children 18 years of age or younger.

Six new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported on Friday, in addition to an additional 34 deaths through an ongoing review of death certificate mortality. That makes the state total 7,517.

As of Friday, 1,780 people are hospitalized for COVID-19-related reasons, 487 in the ICU and 255 with ventilators.

The governor also reported 2,444,573 Kentuckians vaccinated.
