On Thursday night, a gambler in Nevada bet $ 2.3 million on Bucs +3.5 (-115) with the BetMGM bookmaker. If Tampa Bay covers the difference against the Kansas City bosses, the gambler would win $ 2 million net.
According to company spokeswoman Elisa Richardson, the bet was made on the BetMGM mobile app and is the biggest Super Bowl bet any American sports Friday had reported since Friday morning.
With most of the first actions aimed at the favored bosses, the Buccaneers ’big bet was a welcome show by BetMGM.
“That was a bet we were very happy to receive,” Jason Scott, vice president of trading at BetMGM, told ESPN. “We had previously written several six-figure bets, all in Kansas City, and the audience is behind Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes.”
The Chiefs continued to be 3-point favorites and won 74% of the bets on Caesars Sportsbook by William Hill. The two biggest Super Bowl bets William Hill had made since Friday were both on Chiefs: $ 120,000 in Kansas City -3 (-120) and a $ 95,000 bet per line on cash with a probability of -165 which would pay $ 57,575 net.
FanDuel and DraftKings also reported messy performances against the Chiefs, with more than 75% of the first money supporting the defending champions of each sports notebook.
Hundreds of millions of dollars are expected to be wagered on the Super Bowl with American sports books, including a handful of seven-figure bets that regularly appear in the big game each year. Million dollar bets are usually made by casino VIPs, who have a high betting limit. Sports books do not regularly offer seven-digit bets to professional bettors or the average customer leaving the street.
