City officials hope to put the kibosh on plans for a famous Beverly Hills restaurant for a New Year’s Eve dinner party that violates county health orders banning eating in person amid the recent rise in coronavirus.
La Scala, a gourmet Italian restaurant at 434 N. Canon Dr., reportedly placed invitations in handbags to assess its customers ’interest in a“ speakeasy ”style party, but when the news on social media, Beverly Hills officials intervened.
“The city has established direct contact with La Scala representatives (Dec. 24) to confirm the conditions of the County Health Order,” said Keith Sterling, Beverly Hills public information manager.
“We understand that this is an incredibly difficult time for all of our businesses, even though the County Board is currently banning indoor and outdoor food, including in the city of Beverly Hills.”
The city police department also said it knew of the plans.
“Thank you for labeling the BHPD. The Beverly Hills code enforcement is aware and will handle this matter,” he tweeted Friday in the department.
Attempts to reach La Scala for comment on Saturday were unsuccessful.
