Photographer: Gina Moon / Bloomberg Photographer: Gina Moon / Bloomberg President-elect Joe Biden considers New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to be his attorney general, someone familiar with the matter said Friday night. Biden joins the shortlist of other candidates who weigh in, including former New York State Attorney General Cuomo, Alabama Senator Doug Jones, U.S. District Court Judge Merrick Garland and former Vice Attorney General Sally Yates. If Cuomo is elected and confirmed, this will be his second job in the presidential cabinet since serving as secretary of housing and urban development during the Clinton administration. The Associated Press first announced that it was considering Python Cuomo. If further nominated from the election, Cuomo will face a difficult path to stabilize with opponents on both sides of the aisle. Cuomo has been governor of New York since 2011, signing off on same-sex marriage, a $ 15 minimum wage and restrictions on guns. But he has enemies on the left who say he is progressive enough. This year he drew national attention for his television daily presentations on New York’s handling of the country’s worst corona virus outbreak. Critics have blamed Cuomo for creating unnecessary sanctions in New York City and for creating unnecessary sanctions in New York City because of his relationship with Mayor Bill de Blasio. In contrast, Jones, who lost his re-election in November, is likely to gain bipartisan support. – Steven D.
