It’s really amazing how much President Biden in his early weeks has chosen to side with the left wing of his party and its special interests, and even against the moderate wishes of Americans.
It’s most evident in his madness on the Mexican border: President Donald Trump devised humanitarian and perfectly reasonable policies that slowed the record rises of migrants on the Obama-era border. Still, Biden has moved unnecessarily to kill Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” agreement and other agreements with clearly functioning Central American nations. Instead, he established a temporary freeze on deportations and is talking about plans to offer a path to citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants.
All of this has encouraged Central American migrants to run to the U.S. border: the number of children crossing this year is about to break the historical record by 45 percent. And he has had to resort to the famous “cages” to stop children crossing without their families, and it will only get worse as summer arrives.
Meanwhile, its end to deportations is also leading to a return to “capture and release”, which poses a danger to public health: more than 100 illegal border crossings released last week had tested positive for coronavirus, although they still occurred. And that’s just one of the ways this policy whips border cities.
None of this makes sense: 55 percent of Americans disapprove of Biden’s limit on deportations, and only far-lefters are happy to see the border rise resume.
And while it embraces open borders, it passively leaves schools closed. Abandoning its commitments to open up to the fullest in its first 100 days, it now intends that it cannot be done without a new federal spending containing its “relief” bill, even though in the schools of the country are left billions of last year’s relief measures, and their proposed expenditures are mainly for years in the future.
Science clearly demonstrates that reopening poses no real risk to the health of students or adult staff, but the president only refuses to say a word of criticism to teachers ’unions (and the politicians they control), who are, certainly the real barrier to reopening. That’s why American parish and private schools and public schools in areas of low union power opened weeks ago.
It has also turned green in energy policy. While most Americans support moderate efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, that doesn’t cover their $ 1 billion plans to decarbonize the entire country. With a single action, he killed the Keystone XL pipeline, killed thousands of good jobs in the United States and slapped his good American friend, Canada, while he was really harmful the environment, as Canadians will simply send their oil by rail and truck (i.e., more pollution and a higher risk of spills) to consumers who will still burn it, probably on dirtier plants than those here.
Next up are their cultural war nonsense, such as their order allowing biological men to compete in sports with girls, another policy most Americans disapprove of, according to a poll by the U.S. Harvard University and Harris Insights and Analytics.
He is so reluctant to challenge the hard left that he played along with the new effort to cancel Dr. Seuss, Theodor Seuss Geisel, leaving all mention to the beloved author in his proclamation of Reading Day across America. It doesn’t matter that the day arrives on March 2 because it’s Seuss ’birthday, or that then-President Barack Obama and his wife so recently in 2015 highlighted Seuss’ work to inmates and children. “Almost everything you need to know is Dr. Seuss,” Obama said. Heck, now Vice President Kamala Harris tweeted in Seuss in 2017 for a happy birthday.
But the voracious left wants the scalp of Seuss and Biden was forced to cancel an author who has shown countless millions that reading is fun.
Whether he fears the power of the left, or has no real idea of the extreme his administration demonstrates, the president rejects the sensible center anyway. Not only is he foolish, but he does exactly the opposite of his inaugural vote to unify the nation.
