President Biden will travel to the three locations of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on his twentieth birthday next Saturday, despite last month’s call from grieving families asking him not to come.
“The President and First Lady will honor and commemorate the lives lost 20 years ago with the three locations of the 9/11 attacks: New York, New York, Shanksville, Pennsylvania and the Arlington Pentagon, Virginia,” The House Blanca said in a press release Saturday.
But last month, a group calling itself “Members of the 9/11 Community” asked Biden to stay away from this year’s solemn commemorations, because it has not released documents that the group claims would show links between the Saudi government and al-Qaeda terrorists. who carried out the attacks.
“We cannot in good faith and with reverence for those lost, sick and wounded, welcome the President to our sacred lands until he fulfills his commitment,” the group wrote.
On Friday, Biden ordered a review of the declassification of documents related to the FBI’s Sept. 11 investigation, a move that won praise from some Sept. 11 family groups.
