Biden seeks to maximize Trump’s policies and achievements during his tenure, and this small move is part of that mindset. The Biden team justifies the name change because they say that while the push for the vaccine was successful, the operation has not met expectations of vaccine distribution and in people’s arms. Members of the Science Party, however, were the first to clash with Operation Warp Speed rather than recognize its historical significance. Instead of giving credit to the Trump administration, they sounded childish and partisan. Joe Biden often seems to think that if he says the word “science” enough, his ideas will be legitimate. Biden appointed Eric Lander to be its scientific advisor and director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy Friday. He also elevated the position to a cabinet one. Lander is president and founding director of the Broad Institute at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Ironically, when he announced Lander’s nomination, Biden spoke of a conversation he had with Xi Jinping during his days as vice president. He said, “He asked me if I could explain America to him. Biden presented five areas in which the scientific team will focus:
First, the pandemic and what we can learn about what is possible or what should be possible,
to meet the widest range of our public health needs?Second, the economy, and how can we best rebuild to ensure that prosperity is fully shared in America and among all Americans?
Third, how can science help us deal with the climate crisis with American work and ingenuity?
Fourth, how can we ensure that the United States leads the world in the technologies and industries of the future that will be critical to our economic prosperity and national security, especially when we compete with China and other nations?
And fifth, how can we ensure long-term health and confidence in science and technology in our nation?
Kessler was reportedly close to Dr. Fauci. They worked together to accelerate the development and approval of drugs during the AIDS epidemic of the 1990s. Still, there is no AIDS vaccine yet, so take that association and everything else Joe Biden says with a grain of salt.
