Big John, the largest triceratops ever found, is on display in Paris

Big John is the largest triceratops ever discovered on planet Earth.

Following the discovery of the dinosaur in 2015 in the United States, it is now gathering in an exhibition gallery in Paris to exhibit it publicly on September 16th.

But his program in the French capital would only last until it went to auction the following month.

It is estimated that the 66-million-year-old dinosaur will get more than 1.2 million euros when a hammer blow occurs.

The auctioneer of the Drouot auction house, Alexandre Giquello, explains that there is already great interest in the piece.

“Buyers usually show up a little later, just before the auction, but here we’ve already noticed a lot of interest,” he said.

Each part of his body considered a work of art in itself, has been meticulously assembled to shape the prehistoric animal. Its eight-meter-long skeleton is more than 60% complete.

“As well as being the largest specimen in size, it’s also very well preserved, up to 60 percent of the skeleton, which is amazing. Normally, we only find the Triceratops skull in collections,” Iacopo said. Briano, expert in fossil sales.

Big John will be auctioned off in Paris on October 21 at the Hôtel Drouot.
