Bill Maher has (almost) never found a famous man accused of misconduct that he did not want to defend. The comedian of the night, who once warned that the #MeToo Movement was creating a “police state” for sex, has defended Chris Matthews of MSNBC after he was accused of sexual harassment (and mocked his accuser for good measure); has defended comrade Al Franken, who was accused of touching and kissing without consensus; has defended former Trump Trump friend Corey Lewandowski after being caught on a tape pushing a journalist; has repeatedly tarnished Joe Biden’s accuser, Tara Reade, whose lawyer later accused him of “recycling old rape myths”; and once argued that married men sexually harass women “because they have a shitty sex life.” There are many more examples, of course; this is just a taste.
Which brings us to Friday night Real time with Bill Maher, where the political satirist was tasked with defending Hollywood actor Armie Hammer, accused of emotional and physical abuse by several women. According to Maher, “feminism” may be the real culprit here.
“I think we can talk about that in relation to where feminism is, because apparently Armie Hammer has a predilection for telling his dates that he wants them to ‘eat.’ And who wouldn’t want to eat Armie Hammer? ? Come onMaher began. When a woman cheered the audience on, Maher proclaimed, “Exactly my point. Thank you, an honest woman.”
Hammer, the 34-year-old movie star The Social Network i Call me by your name, was initially scrutinized when Instagram DM was posted on the @houseofeffie account, where she expressed cannibalism, rape and kidnapping of fantasies to women. Unfortunately, some members of the media and audience then began to combine the actor’s jokes with the real allegations of coercion and emotional and physical abuse.
“Apparently, this is called ‘ethical fetishism of human cannibals.’ No real women were eaten in the making of this film. They just talked. They have their lyrics, where it said things like, ‘I want to take out the rib and boil it.’ -the one with barbecue sauce, “Maher says. “We’re in a society so focused on porn: people have been watching really hard porn for so long that the fact of ‘fucking you’ doesn’t cut it anymore.” (So porn seems to be now to blame for Hammer’s fetishes, based on … what exactly is it?)
Maher then portrayed Hammer’s accusers as women who simply had a change of heart: “My point is that the women who oppose him now, who went out with Armie Hammer — willingly — and left. stay – willingly – and there were no bad things happening, okay … we all agree that it’s intolerable, but if there has been no physical coercion, why not just add: ” It seemed like a good idea at the time, to let Armie Hammer eat me … but it really wasn’t. ” It looks like we no longer have any property of our own. ”
One of the real-time panelists, TIME Correspondent Charlotte Alter denied that “there was anything physical” between Hammer and his accusers. “Some of the women have alleged that there was some kind of slapping. One woman said she cut off her initials on the body,” Alter added.
“He tied her up and did that?” fired Maher. “I do not think so”.
This is where we should examine exactly what Hammer accuses us of. One of the first women to go public and accuse Hammer of misconduct was Courtney Vucekovich, an entrepreneur and founder of applications, who said on page six that the actor forced her to maintain an insecure relationship, forcing her to do so. the to “dangerous situations where he was not well.” ”Including sexual ones.
“It quickly prepares you for the relationship,” he told Page Six. “It catches you and, although it is charming, it gets you these things that are darker, heavier and consuming. When I say consume, I mean mentally, physically, emotionally, financially, everything ”. Vucekovich alleges she had to be hospitalized for 30 days with PTSD she suffered after going out with Hammer.
“The women approached me with their story-related stories as we talked overwhelmed with pain for days and nights without sleep or food, and some ended up in the emergency room …”
Then there was Paige Lorenze, 22, who said Hammer he sent around his nude photos to other people without their consent, and manipulated her emotionally to let him hurt her repeatedly, encouraging her to “show” the marks and “be proud” of them. She claims Hammer “enjoyed hurting women, but used BDSM as a mask for it” and told Page Six that she has since been in trauma therapy due to ordeal.
A number of other women have appeared anonymously on @houseofeffie, alleging that Hammer crossed their borders and experienced abusive behavior on her part.
“The women approached me with their stories related to things as we talked overwhelmed with pain for days and nights without sleep or food, and some ended up in the emergency room,” wrote the person who runs @houseofeffie in a story of Instagram. (Hammer, who has been retired from film and television projects, abandoned his agency and murdered by his estranged wife, has denied all charges).
Cut to Maher, who insists Real time that all the women who accused Hammer said everything was “consensual” and that “I think he’s exactly the guy in the book Fifty Shades of grey, which was the most popular book in history, I think, among women … He is this rich, handsome, movie star, and he has a hair. “
He then expressly blamed Hammer’s accusers: again, “If you swim with the alpha sharks, in the end it won’t go well. Shouldn’t you know? I mean, is it really that hard to understand without the law getting involved?” Maher demanded, adding, “It’s a cad!”
Maher, by the way, has his own past checkered with women. Actress and activist Rose McGowan recently accused Maher of harassing her when she was invited to her show: “I was on your show Politically incorrect in the late ’90s, when the show was coming back from a commercial break, you leaned over to me and whispered in my ear, “My parents didn’t give me a good face, but they gave me a huge cock.” “he wrote, adding,” I could feel your hot breath in my ear as an image of your horrible face and the supposed big cock shone in my head. They both turned my stomach. I’ve always wondered what you say and what you do to girls who aren’t famous? “
