Biohazard hid a horrible 2020 Easter egg

When 2020 is over, many are very happy to see that the year is finally over. Few could have predicted how bad the year would end up being for most, but it seems so Resident Evil 7: Biohazard hid an alarming Easter egg that looks pretty nefarious in retrospect! A shelf in the Baker house contains several creepy books, such as “Murder in Cleveland” and “Heartless Betrayal.” However, what stands out from the rest of the package is simply called “2020”. Fans wouldn’t know it at the time, but that book would turn out to be a lot scarier than the rest.

The discovery was shared by the Twitter account No Context Resident Evil, and the image can be found in the embedded tweet below.

It’s always interesting to look back on Easter eggs like this with the benefit of hindsight. It’s unclear what motivated Capcom to put “2020” on one of those thorns in the book. Perhaps the company was trying to hint at a future game in the series. This year the Resident Evil 3 remake, but it seems unlikely that the company hinted at this game, specifically. Regardless of what the intention may have been, it seems that the developers left what would end up being the most horrible Easter egg of all.

It’s impossible to say if 2021 will be a better year overall, but at the very least, it should be better for Resident Evil fans. The year will see the light of day Resident Evil: Village, a direct sequel to Resident Evil 7: Biological risk. The game will once again follow protagonist Ethan Winters and see the ever-present hero Chris Redfield in an antagonistic role. Biological risk proved to be one of the most terrifying entries in the Resident Evil franchise (with or without the 2020 benchmark), so it will be interesting to see if People can raise the bar!

Fans can check out the Easter egg for themselves Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, which is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
