Biomutant reveals a new trailer and a controversial booking bonus

BiomutantThe May release date is starting to get closer and closer and publisher THQ Nordic has released a new trailer showcasing the game’s vibrant worlds and kung-fu-inspired action. The trailer was also accompanied by information on the incentive for pre-ordering the game: those who pre-order the digital version or the collector’s edition will receive access to the Mercenary class, which apparently features “a unique combination of benefits ”. This class will eventually be available to all players as DLC, but those who want it for free will have to pre-order any of these versions. Unfortunately, the standard physical version is not included in the promotion.

The latest trailer for the game can be found in the Tweet included below.

The pre-order bonus of the game was met with some doubts from the players who were waiting Biomutant. A commentator noted that the surrounding controversy Ciberpunk 2077 it had made them doubt the reservation of future games, to which THQ Nordic replied that it was “understandable”. Other comments expressed disappointment that one of the game’s classes would be essentially closed behind a “pay wall,” mostly because the standard physical version is not included in the promotion. It’s unfortunate, but pre-order bonuses have become an industry standard and it looks like developers and publishers will continue to bet on them as long as players are willing to advance money before release.

The digital version of Biomutant will retail for $ 59.99, while the collector’s edition will retail for $ 119.99. The collector’s edition includes the game, as well as various extras, such as a figurine, A1 artwork on canvas and the soundtrack. There’s also a $ 399 Atomic edition that includes these items, but that changes the figurine to a diorama. It also includes a T-shirt, a SteelBook and a large mouse. It is unknown whether the Atomic version will also include the pre-order incentive or not, but I hope so, given the price of the package.

Biomutant is released on May 25 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. You can check out all of our previous game coverage right here.
