The blackouts the island has experienced in recent days could continue through the weekend, said Gary Soto, Director of Operations Projects for the Luma Energy System.
According to Soto, the service will be interrupted today, Wednesday, and tomorrow, Thursday at the demand for electricity generation that arises from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.
In an interview with WKAQ, Soto assured that they will not have enough generation to be able to cover these periods and also did not rule out that the situation will last until the weekend but for a shorter period of time.
“We hope that a new unit will be incorporated (Friday) in the Aguirre line and with this unit the process should be completed and everything related to cargo relief of our customers should be completed,” he said.
Efran Parets, executive director of the Electricity Authority (AEE), for his part, awarded the shutdowns that currently not enough energy can be generated to cover the island’s demand to have two units of generation in Aguirre and Costa Sud 6 out of service.
