Blake Griffin will debut with the Brooklyn Nets, will have minute restriction

Blake Griffin will make his Brooklyn Nets debut Sunday against the Washington Wizards. Griffin said he will have a minute restriction.

Griffin last played on Feb. 12 against the Boston Celtics when he was still a member of the Detroit Pistons. After accepting an outing purchase with Detroit and signing with Brooklyn, Griffin met with Nets training staff and devised a plan to return to the game that would put him in shape.

“No one stays out for a month and then comes back and plays right away,” Griffin told ESPN. “So I just want to be smart and listen to people who know what they’re talking about and make sure they give me the best opportunity to participate and contribute and be healthy for the playoffs and beyond.”

While he was included on the disabled list for maintaining a left knee injury, Griffin has insisted he was never hurt. On Sunday morning, Griffin said the Nets training staff took a full-body approach to their heavier workload and not just focused on their knee.

Griffin was with the Nets on their last road trip to Indiana and trained with the Nets training staff and Kevin Durant, who has missed the Nets’ last 13 games due to a strained tendon. . Brooklyn has played a total of four games without Griffin since signing with the franchise.

Griffin, 32, played 20 games with Detroit this season and averaged 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists.
