COLUMBUS, Ohio – It only took five games and one last pulse with coach John Tortorella for Pierre-Luc Dubois to achieve his desire.
The Blue Jackets are about to negotiate their displeased No. 1 center, sources told Athletic on Friday afternoon, a deal that is likely to be consummated this weekend, perhaps as early as Saturday.
The Winnipeg Jets are believed to be the top-ranked Dubois, according to TSN’s Darren Dreger, but the Anaheim Ducks, Montreal Canadiens and perhaps another club are also there.
The Blue Jackets informed Dubois that it would be a good risk for Saturday’s 2 p.m. This move is not punitive after its long Thursday, but rather about asset protection.
Dubois has almost certainly played his last game with the Blue Jackets.
