Bryson DeChambeau and Patrick Cantlay had an incredible showdown in Sunday’s final round of the BMW Championship, one that Cantlay eventually won with a birdie putt in the sixth playoff hole.
The two stars, who will be part of the U.S. Ryder Cup team next month, were paired Sunday in the final group on Sunday and exchanged blows throughout the round.
But there was an awkward moment when DeChambeau pulled away from an approach shot at hole 14 and asked Cantlay to stop walking because he apparently grabbed him by the corner of his eye and bothered him.
Here is the moment, which was followed by Cantlay walking with a long putt birdie:

Cantlay said after his victory that it didn’t bother him (via Golf Digest):
“I just wanted him to stop walking,” Cantlay said. “The rules officers had only told us to speed up, and I’m not always the fastest, so I was trying to get ahead and do my part. There are therefore none. These things happen out there from time to time. “
Is it annoying when someone walks by your point of view when trying to take a golf shot? Yes. Could Bryson have been a little cooler with the way he asked Cantlay to stop walking? Yes.
It’s also annoying when you’re in a group with DeChambeau and a standards officer asks them to speed things up, which happens all too often.
Twitter still had reactions because when DeChambeau does something like that, people will have reactions.
