Twitter users mocked first-term Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) On Friday on a tweet in which he argued that defending the U.S. Constitution “doesn’t mean trying to rewrite the parts you don’t like.”

Twitter users they were quick to point out to the Ombudsman the many changes that have been ratified in the Constitution since it became the country’s official legal framework in 1788.
According to the nonprofit organization Philadelphia National Constitution Center, the constitution, as first drafted in 1787, did not include the first ten amendments, also known as the Bill of Rights.
In the more than 200 years since this first set of rights was adopted through an agreement with several states, more than a dozen constitutional amendments have been added that many Americans point to as key moments in history. of the United States, including the abolition of slavery, guaranteeing women the right to vote and setting the legal voting age at 18 years.

Lauren Boebert is a member of Congress and doesn’t understand that we have literally rewritten / revised the Constitution 27 times to do things like abolish slavery and, you know, extend the right to vote and run for women … like Lauren Boebert. https://t.co/PuxrFJuJuG

The Hill has contacted Boebert’s office to comment.
Boebert went viral last month for an ad he posted in which he was seen walking around the Capitol precinct, stating that he would bring the firearm to DC and Congress.
Under existing Capitol Police Regulations, members of Congress are exempt from the general firearms ban anywhere in the Capitol complex, although guns are totally prohibited in the chambers of the House and Senate.
Boebert Thursday said about Zoom during a virtual hearing of the House Natural Resources Committee that carrying weapons “is an enumerated right that U.S. citizens have,” opposing an amendment aimed at removing a provision banning guns of fire in the courtroom.
The GOP congresswoman, who has voiced support for far-right conspiracy theory QAnon, has also drawn intense criticism after tweeting details about lawmakers’ locations during the Jan. 6 Capitol violation.
In a letter in congressional leadership shortly after the uprising, 68 Colorado officials called for an investigation into Boebert’s actions before and during the siege.
The first-term legislator already has a challenger for 2022 in her seat in the rep. Donald Valdez (D), who announced his career on Thursday, calling Boebert a “threat to democracy” and blaming it for helping incite the deadly insurrection of the Capitol.
