In a statement to the Times, Trump called Boehner a RINO (short for “Republican-only name”) and suggested he was drunk when he wrote his book. In an adapted essay from his book published Friday by Politico magazine, Boehner defended former President Obama from criticism that he did not work hard enough to reach a bipartisan consensus with Republicans during his tenure.

Boehner also attacked leading members of the Tea Party, whom he has called “legislative terrorists” and Fox News for trafficking in what he called false outrage and fueling right-wing political divisions.
